About

In 2018, after getting married, I decided to switch my career from technical sales to being a software engineer. I was prompted to after working in the SaaS industry for 7 years and passing the technical sales engineering test for every company I worked for. I then pursued a degree in Applied Technology with a focus in Computer Science at BYU-I. I fully left working in technical sales in 2021 to finish my degree and begin working as a Software Engineer. My senior year I interned at FamilySearch, and when that ended they extended me out on a 1 year contract as a Full Stack Engineer as I was part of the team tasked with deployment of their world-wide chat feature. I also have my own dev group that is working to build a social facilitation app for pickup sports games called Scrimmage.

Full Stack Engineer (Contract)
Shortened Chat app time to deployment by developing conversion utilities using Node.JS and Java that helped convert and transfer key database info between services securely. Reduced employee help desk calls by overhauling error catches in React and how they were resolved. Increased user adoption of the chat app by improving UI in React to optimize flow and aesthetics within the app. Implemented new statistical tracking and monitoring for the backend team utilizing Spring Boot and Splunk.

Implemented a system to convert old database IDs to a new format. I then created the background services and scripting in Java and Node to implement and move that data to the new database and run on the new database.
